Enyimba International FC has clarified that the mass exit of players from its squad is part of a deliberate rebuilding strategy aimed at restoring the club’s dominance in Nigerian football.
The club’s Sporting Director, Ifeanyi Ekwueme, explained in Aba that the release of 20 players from the team was not linked to internal crisis, as speculated, but a calculated move to strengthen the squad for the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Ekwueme noted that the management was dissatisfied with the team’s performance last season and decided to overhaul the squad to meet the high expectations of supporters. “The mass release is not because of crisis, but a rebuilding process to restore the club’s championship pedigree. The focus is on bringing in hungry, committed professionals ready to fight for the badge,” he said.
He added that several signings were already being lined up as part of the club’s plans to assemble a more competitive team. According to him, Enyimba remains determined to maintain its reputation as Nigeria’s biggest football club while reassuring fans of its commitment to delivering results in the new season.
