Russia carried out a fresh wave of airstrikes on Ukraine overnight, hitting a U.S. electronics manufacturer in the country’s western region, Ukrainian officials confirmed on Thursday.
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said one of the missiles struck a major American-owned facility, causing significant damage and casualties. President Volodymyr Zelensky added that several cruise missiles targeted an enterprise in the Zakarpattia region that produces coffee machines and other household appliances.
Emergency services reported that 15 people were injured in the attack, which triggered a massive fire covering about 7,000 square meters.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the assault involved 574 drones and 40 missiles. Defenses intercepted 546 drones, 18 Kh-101 cruise missiles, 12 Kalibr cruise missiles, and one Kinzhal hypersonic missile.
The latest strike underscores Russia’s growing focus on Ukraine’s industrial assets, even in the country’s western territories, far from the frontlines. Analysts warn the escalation signals Moscow’s intent to cripple Ukraine’s manufacturing capacity while also sending a message to Western investors and partners.
