The All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders and executives in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State have announced the indefinite suspension of Hon. Iliasu Ibrahim of Oloru Ward over allegations of anti-party and anti-government conduct.
Ibrahim, a former member of the State House of Assembly and a prominent figure in the 2019 ‘Otoge’ movement that dislodged the Saraki dynasty, is widely known as ‘Iliasu Moro’.
In a suspension letter signed by the APC Oloru Ward Chairman, Mallam Jimoh Raji, the decision was described as consistent with the party’s constitution on discipline and misconduct. Raji added that ward stakeholders and executives were confident the Kwara State APC leadership would uphold and ratify the suspension, insisting the party would not tolerate acts of indiscipline by any member, regardless of status.
The development followed a radio appearance on Monday, during which Ibrahim launched a scathing attack on Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, using what were described as unprintable words. His son, Engineer Rotimi Iliasu, who previously served as State Commissioner for Works and Transport, was recently dropped from the cabinet after concerns were raised over alleged poor supervision and substandard work at the Tunde Idiagbon Tanke Bridge in Ilorin.
Although party officials have not explicitly linked the suspension to the radio outburst, political observers in the state suggest the move may be connected to Ibrahim’s remarks.
Efforts to reach the State APC Chairman, Chief Sunday Fagbemi, as well as Hon. Ibrahim, were unsuccessful, as calls to their phone lines did not connect.
