Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Mrs Lami Ogenyi, has provided free medical services worth over N80 million to more than 2,500 residents of her Ado State Constituency.
Speaking in Makurdi on Thursday, Ogenyi said the five-day medical outreach, conducted in partnership with specialists from Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent De Paul Hospital, Abuja, and the Benue State Teaching Hospital, offered surgeries for hernia, appendix, and glaucoma, while over 280 people received prescription glasses.
Beyond healthcare, the lawmaker highlighted other projects she has facilitated in her two years in office, including the renovation of six classrooms and toilets, construction of two new classrooms in Agila, provision of a generator and 60 chairs for Apa Community School, installation of 15 boreholes, and scholarships for students.
Ogenyi said she had also secured employment slots for her constituents in the state teaching service, police, and army, while empowering women with stipends ranging from N100,000 to N150,000.
She noted that one of her major campaign promises the rehabilitation of the long-neglected Igumale/Agila road was already being fulfilled, with Governor Hyacinth Alia currently undertaking the project.
The deputy speaker added that she had lobbied for additional projects such as solar street lights in 10 wards of Ado LGA and secured five more constituency projects through the Office of the Deputy Senate President.
