Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has unveiled plans for the construction of a 500-bed hostel at the medical school of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma.
He made the announcement during his campaign tour of several wards in Esan West Local Government Area, including Iruekpen and Ekpoma, as part of activities ahead of the August 16 Edo Central Senatorial by-election.
According to him, construction work on the hostel will begin in the coming weeks.
“Edo State Government will build a 500-bed hostel for the medical school in AAU, Ekpoma. In the coming weeks, we will mobilise contractors to site. Remember that the first thing I declared upon becoming Governor of Edo State was an increase in the school’s subvention to ₦500 million. We have delivered on that, and we have also constituted the governing council for the university,” he said.
Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling his pledges and called on party supporters to work towards delivering 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The rally drew key All Progressives Congress stakeholders, including State Deputy Chairman Sylvester Aigboboh; Edo Central Senatorial Leader, Gen. Cecil Isekhaigbe (rtd); the Secretary to the State Government; and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Gani Audu, among others.
