Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have arrived in Abuja after securing their fifth consecutive title at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Championship in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire — a record-setting achievement in African basketball history.
The triumphant squad touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Monday to a hero’s welcome, marking a proud moment for Nigerian sports.
With this latest victory, D’Tigress have cemented their legacy as the most dominant team in the tournament’s history — the first African side to win five AfroBasket titles in a row.
The team is scheduled to meet President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, where they will be formally received and honoured for their outstanding performance on the continental stage.
