The Olubadan-In-Council has formally endorsed Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the next Olubadan of Ibadanland, following a meeting held on Monday at the Olubadan Palace in Oke-Aremo, within the Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Although Oba Ladoja was not present at the meeting, the council reached a unanimous decision to support his emergence as the 44th monarch of the ancient city.
Speaking after the deliberation, the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, stated, “We (members of the Olubadan-In-Council) have all signed and nominated Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland.
“We will forward the resolutions of our meeting to our Governor, Seyi Makinde. He will now pick a date to present a staff of Office to the new Olubadan.
The late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, will be buried this week. So, this week is not feasible.
He (Makinde) may decide to pick three weeks, two weeks or one week.”
The development comes shortly after the passing of the former Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who died on July 7, 2025.
His burial is expected to take place later this week, after which preparations for the formal installation of the new monarch will proceed.
