The Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on Thursday, July 17, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to his Ondo State counterpart, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, at the Government House in Akure.
Makinde was in Akure to participate in the 10th coronation anniversary of the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II.
While receiving his guest at the Presidential Lodge, Governor Aiyedatiwa congratulated Makinde on the chieftaincy honour bestowed upon him by the Deji, describing him as a deserving recipient. He also praised Makinde for his leadership qualities and accomplishments in Oyo State over the past six years.
Aiyedatiwa remarked, “My brother, I welcome you back home. Akure is your home, and I congratulate you on the chieftaincy title. It is not just because you’re a governor, but because you’ve earned the respect of your people through your exemplary leadership.”
In his response, Governor Makinde expressed appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality, saying he always feels at home in Ondo, especially because his mother hailed from Akure. He lauded the peaceful atmosphere in the state and noted the cultural and historical ties between Oyo and Ondo, expressing hope that the relationship between both states would continue to flourish.
He commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for continuing the legacy projects of his late predecessor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, particularly the sustained support for the Amotekun Corps.
Makinde was accompanied by key members of his delegation, including Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, a member of the Oyo State Governor’s Advisory Council, and Chief Bayo Lawal, Executive Adviser on General Duties.
Also present at the meeting were top officials from Ondo State, including the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti; Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa; Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Engr. Johnson Alabi; Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, SAN; Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations, Otunba Adewale Akinlosotu; Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan; and the Director General of the Ondo State Radio and Television Corporation, Mr. Kenneth Odusola-Stevenson.
