Emmanuel Myam, a Nigerian cyclist popularly known as Emmiwuks, has arrived in Ghana as part of his remarkable solo bicycle journey from Lagos to the United States.
The journey, which began on July 1, has seen the Benue-born adventurer ride through the Benin Republic and Togo before reaching Ghana, completing the first leg of his transcontinental mission in just 10 days.
Emmiwuks first made headlines in 2022 when he cycled from Makurdi to Lagos in a bid to meet music star Davido.
This latest expedition, however, carries a deeper purpose.
Motivated by personal struggles and a near death experience in 2023, he is using the trip to raise awareness for displaced and orphaned children affected by conflict across Africa.
Sharing updates on social media, Emmiwuks posted photos from Ghana on Wednesday, writing
“Day 10 Project NIG2USA.
Welcome to Ghana. The land of warmth rhythm and strength. A new country a new chapter same mission raising a voice for the displaced and the forgotten across Africa. Ghana let us ride this journey together. From Nigeria to the world the movement is alive. Naija no dey carry last.”
Earlier in his journey, he visited an orphanage in the Benin Republic where he used donations from supporters to provide aid to the children.
He described the visit as an emotional reminder of the purpose behind his mission.
“Today I visited an orphanage here in Benin with my little support and it touched me deeply,” he wrote.
“Seeing those children reminded me of the displaced people in my dear country and across Africa who are suffering in silence due to insecurity.
This journey is not just about cycling it is about giving them a voice. Every ride every mile is for them. But I cannot do it alone.
