In the wake of a tragic incident at the Main Market in Onitsha, Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has taken significant steps to comfort the grieving family of the deceased, Miss Chinwe Igwe.
Governor Soludo met with the family representatives from Ikwo in Ebonyi State at the Onitsha North Local Government Headquarters, where he offered his condolences and support.
In a heartfelt exchange, he reassured the family that their sorrow was shared by the entire state, underlining the interconnectedness of community in times of grief.
Speaking during the meeting, the governor promised a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Miss Igweās death. He stressed the importance of accountability, stating that any security personnel found negligent would face prosecution. āEvery life matters,ā he asserted, emphasizing that law enforcement must operate within established protocols to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
āAnambra is a state founded on law and order,ā he declared, as he praised law enforcement agencies for their prompt response to the situation. He urged them to continue their efforts in upholding peace and stability across Anambra State.
Governor Soludo also visited New Hope hospital in Onitsha to express his sympathies to one of the injured individuals, who is reportedly recovering well. He equally extended his support to two other victims receiving treatment at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital in Nnewi.
This proactive approach by Governor Soludo demonstrates his dedication to not only addressing the immediate aftermath of the tragedy but also ensuring that measures are in place to prevent such incidents in the future.
