Nigeria’s national power grid collapsed again on Wednesday, causing a sharp drop in electricity supply across the country.
Reports indicated that generation fell from 2,917.83 megawatts to as low as 1.5MW between 11am and 12pm, plunging many areas into darkness.
Shortly after the incident, the Nigeria National Grid, an X handle that provides real-time updates on power distribution, announced that “System restoration is in progress.”
As at press time, electricity distribution companies (DisCos) were yet to issue any official statement on the development.
