Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi embodies history. An history that will always be a reference point for decades to come. A turning point and history of good governance brought about by quality interventionary representation. Sen Yayi symbolisis quantum leap in governance away from the usual normal we are used to before now. He has raise the bar of governmental output across Ogun State and history will always be kind to him come what may.
Take it or leave it, Senator Yayi is unarguably the poster “boy” of government functionaries in Ogun State. He’s covering gaps for them all, be you Senators, Representatives, Assembly members, Commissioners, LG Chairmen, Councilors, Members of Boards and Parastatals. Societal pressure is been lift off their shoulders just as tension is been diffused by the various exploits of Sen Yayi. All government functionaries can walk freely around because of Yayi’s induced conducive atmosphere. As at April 2025, Sen Yayi has completed about 300 projects in Ogun West. With additional 90 projects that were commissioned last week, Sen Yayi has been instrumental to over 400 meaningful and impactful projects. These projects excludes those in Ogun Central and Ogun East Senatorial Districts. By implications the projects will be in the neighborhood of 500 in just 2 years plus. If this is not history and milestone, then I don’t know what it is.
Senator Yayi performance in the office has also orchestrated a kind of healthy competition with every government functionaries now striving to do something tangible for the people. This is good and a welcome development. It is a win win for everyone. Though Yayi might be the catalyst and propeller but the people are the winner.
Anyone in Ogun State, landlords, or tenants residing in Ogun State and haven’t heard about Sen Yayi doings is not really part of Ogun State in proper terms. At every CDA, CDC meetings across Ogun State, Sen Yayi’s name is mostly predominant because of the various developments strides. The last batch of 102 transformers distributed on August 10th were done through the CDAs to various communities. Solar lights across the State is in thousands. Ogun State has never had it this good in radical transformation.
The Acts of Yayi is everywhere in Ogun State, from Senatorial to LG. Senator Yayi understand and he is putting into action what governmental model and process is all about in addressing the desirables and meeting real needs of the people. His empowerment programs that have taken thousands out of poverty speaks volume. I have seen Yayi’s tricycles and mini buses in every part of Ogun with people earning a living for themselves. Sen Yayi is opening rural area and new development centers with his giant strides and deliberate approach to governance. Rural roads that have never witnessed or weared asphalt since their existence are been opened up. Of course the ultimate is the 107 klm road of Ilara to Ilashe to cover 4 LGs in Ogun West with the first phase already ongoing. But there are many with few kilometers that now adorned our communities. The ripple effects of this can be imagined on the well being of the people.
With all we’ve seen of Sen Yayi, there’s no better ideal person to lead Ogun State post Governor Dapo Abiodun. No one is better suited among the gladiators. He’s the best of the lot. The fact speaks for itself. But politics been what it is especially in our clime, a lot will deliberately blind themselves to what Yayi has done but by God’s grace, Yayi will triumph over concerted conglomerates all geared towards nothing but vainglorious expedition.
However, any irrational characterisation of Sen Yayi by those who are in the habit of playing the ostrich can’t diminish the person of Yayi not to talk of his doings. That has already been engraved in the hearts of the people. With what he has done, it is only natural for the people to be attached to Sen Yayi. For the people, Yayi has a date with destiny ahead of 2027. No one can derail that destiny. Not because of Yayi as an individual but more about other destinies that have been touched and many standing in the gap knowing that God will use Yayi to change permanently the face of Ogun State in due course.
