Citizens of Lere Local Government Area in Kaduna State have appealed to Governor Uba Sani to support the candidacy of Tom Garba for the Lere West constituency seat in the state House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 elections.
In an open letter signed by representatives of the community, the residents described Garba as a detribalized Nigerian whose qualifications and experience position him as the ideal candidate to ensure unity, development, and fair representation for Lere West.
The letter noted that the constituency had suffered neglect over the years, with stalled development projects and limited representation in the 34-member Kaduna State House of Assembly.
“We, the concerned citizens of Lere Local Government, humbly appeal to your esteemed leadership to consider a crucial decision that will shape the future of our beloved state,” the letter states.
The supporters maintained that Garba’s inclusive approach to leadership would amplify the voices of residents, promote unity, and align with the state’s drive for balanced governance. They argued that his election would demonstrate Governor Sani’s commitment to fair representation in policy-making and equitable distribution of resources.
The call comes as Kaduna, under Governor Sani since 2023, has focused on security, education, and economic empowerment, alongside efforts to bridge ethnic and regional gaps. Community leaders insisted that backing Garba would further underscore those priorities.
“Tom Garba represents the fresh, unifying leadership our constituency needs. His mandate would not only acknowledge his capabilities but ensure our people’s aspirations are heard in Kaduna’s legislative heart,” one elder noted.
With party primaries expected by mid-2026, observers predict heightened competition in areas like Lere West, where residents believe they have been left behind compared to urban centers such as Zaria and Kaduna.
The appeal ended with a prayerful plea, stating, “We believe that this decision will be a testament to your commitment to balanced development and equitable representation in our great state.”
