According to sources, the CBI officials interrogated Atin Ghosh for more than two and a half hours at his residence. Following the raid, the MLA faced the media and clarified the situation. Ghosh stated that the CBI had summoned him as a witness in the ongoing investigation into the RG tax corruption case, a high-profile case involving alleged financial misconduct related to the RG Karer Patient Welfare Association.
As soon as the CBI team left his house, Atin Ghosh addressed the waiting journalists. He remarked, “I have no regrets that the CBI has come to my house. You all know my political character. I have been handling health-related affairs in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation for 15 years. No one has ever been able to raise a finger against me.”
He added, “Whatever their motives are, I don’t care. I know I have no role in this matter.” Ghosh also explained the reason behind his involvement, saying, “I was called by the CBI because I am a member of the RG Karer Patient Welfare Association. My association with the body is purely based on my role as a local MLA. The government has made me a member again, and I now have the responsibility to attend meetings with the Principal and MSVP.”
The raid has raised political eyebrows, as Atin Ghosh is a senior leader of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Kolkata.
