In a move aimed at narrowing the digital gap in Ondo North Senatorial District, Senator Jide Ipinsagba has launched a two-day ICT empowerment training program in partnership with the Nigeria Press Council.
The initiative, themed ICT Training: Digital Skills for a Brighter Future, is designed to equip young people across the senatorial district with vital digital and entrepreneurial skills essential for thriving in the modern economy.
The training, which took place at Akungba-Akoko, brought together 32 participants representing all six local government areas in Ondo North.
Addressing the participants, Senator Jide Ipinsagba emphasized that the world is rapidly evolving and that young people must not be left behind in the global shift toward technology-driven opportunities.
According to the Senator, “Digital literacy is no longer optional; it is the backbone of today’s economy.”
Represented by Mr. Joseph Aladetimehin, Senator Ipinsagba added that the program is creating pathways for youths in Ondo North to thrive in a technology-driven world. He explained that the training is part of his legislative agenda to bridge the digital gap, generate employment, and foster innovation among young people in both rural and urban communities.
Participants underwent practical sessions covering topics such as Basic Computer Literacy, ICT Tools for Business and Entrepreneurship, Social Media Optimization and Monetization, Mini E-Commerce Website Development, and an Introduction to Freelancing and Remote Work Skills.
