The Osun State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the sudden death of a lady, Bidemi Omole, who reportedly passed away shortly after arriving at the home of her boyfriend, identified as Yinka, in Esa-Oke.
The incident, which occurred around 9:30pm on Friday, threw the town into confusion as residents rushed to the house in the Oke Esa area when news of her death spread.
Sources said the deceased had planned to attend a church vigil that night but stopped at her boyfriend’s residence before she suddenly fell ill.
A neighbour, who gave her name as Taye, said Bidemi died not long after entering the house.
She added, “We heard the cry for help and we all ran towards Yinka’s house. But before I got to the scene, a lot of people were already there.
”I saw some security personnel, but the crowd was a bit much, and it was already late.
“The deceased was believed to be heading for vigil as of the time the death occurred.
“She usually attends vigil on Fridays. The police have arrested the boyfriend. He is with them already.”
Confirming the incident on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the matter was reported to the command on Saturday.
He explained that the deceased became sick shortly after arriving at her boyfriend’s house and died on the way to the hospital.
“The death occurred on Friday. The deceased, Bidemi Omole, went to her boyfriend’s house, also located in Esa Oke.
“The boyfriend is identified as Yinka. From what the boyfriend told us, the deceased took ill after arriving at the house and started vomiting.
“She was rushed to a hospital, but on the way, she gave up the ghost.
“The suspect is already with the police. Autopsy will be conducted to unravel the cause of the death,” Ojelabi said.
