A Professor of Toxicology and Environmental Biochemistry at the Department of Biochemistry, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, Augustine Olusola, is set to deliver the institution’s 46th Inaugural Lecture.
The lecture, titled “From a Biochemist to a Toxicologist: My Odyssey,” will hold on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the University Multipurpose Hall.
According to the Chairman of the University Ceremonies Committee and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Adebisi Daramola, in a statement, the event will be chaired by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga Ige.
The lecture is scheduled to commence at 2:00 p.m., with guests expected to be seated by 1:30 p.m.
Prof. Olusola obtained his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees in Biochemistry (Biochemical Toxicology) from the University of Benin, Edo State, in 1998, 2003, and 2010, respectively.
He joined AAUA as a Graduate Assistant in 2001 and rose steadily through the ranks until his elevation to the rank of professor in 2020.
Over the years, he has held several leadership roles in the university, including Acting Head of the Department of Biochemistry, Acting Director of the Centre for Distance Learning, and Director of the Centre for Research and Development.
With more than 80 scholarly publications to his credit, Prof. Olusola has also served as an external examiner at institutions such as Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Federal University of Technology, Akure, and Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo.
He has supervised numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students, including 14 Master’s and 13 Ph.D. candidates.
He has participated in over 20 local and international conferences in countries including Kenya, South Africa, the Republic of Benin, and the United Arab Emirates.
He is also a member of several professional associations, including the Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB), Nigerian Society of Experimental Biology (NISEB), International Research and Development Network, and the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB).
Prof. Olusola is a Fellow of the Strategic Institute for Natural Resources and Human Development (FRHD) as well as the Institute of Industrial Administration of Nigeria (FIIA), among other professional affiliations.
