MAGGI Empowers Over 8,000 Women at 2025 August Meeting Across South-East
MAGGI, Nestlé Nigeria’s flagship seasoning brand, has reaffirmed its commitment to women and communities by sponsoring the 2025 edition of the August Meeting, a cultural gathering of Igbo women held annually across the South-East.
This year’s event reached more than 8,100 women in 18 locations across five states, featuring nutrition education, culinary demonstrations, and interactive sessions on family well-being and economic empowerment.
The August Meeting, a decades-long tradition, brings together Igbo women at home and abroad to deliberate on family, social, and community development. MAGGI’s partnership with the platform aligns with its mission to support women, who remain central to its brand purpose.
Speaking at the event, Funmi Osineye, MAGGI Category Manager, Nestlé Nigeria, noted that the brand’s continued support reflects the importance of empowering women in today’s society.
“MAGGI has supported the August Meeting for several years, but this celebration comes at a time when women empowerment, food security, and community resilience are more critical than ever,” she said. “Beyond our products, this partnership allows us to provide women with nutrition insights, new skills, and entrepreneurial support that strengthen families and uplift communities.”
Victoria Uwadoka, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Lead, Nestlé Nigeria, emphasized the brand’s pride in celebrating women’s contributions to social and economic progress.
“Partnering with the August Meeting allows us to honor women for the difference they make every day, while demonstrating our commitment to building stronger families and stronger communities,” she said.
This year’s gathering also spotlighted outstanding women leaders and rising stars, who received special awards for their contributions to community development.
To add cultural vibrancy, Nollywood actresses Ngozi Nwosu, Blessing Obasi, and Uzo Osimkpa joined the celebrations, thrilling participants with their presence. Osimkpa described her participation as a personal tribute:
“Growing up, I witnessed the significance of the August Meeting in Igbo culture. For my mother, it wasn’t just a tradition; it was a duty. To be part of MAGGI August Meeting is a privilege and a testament to the enduring strength of Igbo womanhood.”
Participants lauded the initiative for amplifying the values of the August Meeting while providing practical empowerment opportunities. One attendee remarked:
“MAGGI has given more visibility to our tradition, making it even bigger by adding training, recognition, and empowerment. This has been a remarkable August Meeting.”
Through initiatives like the August Meeting, MAGGI continues to demonstrate its role as a trusted companion of Nigerian women, supporting cultural heritage while promoting healthier families and resilient communities.
