The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has constituted a 110-member organising committee to steer preparations for its 2025 elective national convention, scheduled to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Saturday and Sunday, November 15 and 16.
A statement issued on Monday by the party’s spokesperson, Debo Ologunagba, and shared via its official X handle, detailed the structure and leadership of the committee, which has been entrusted with ensuring the convention is conducted smoothly and transparently.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State will head the committee, supported by Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State as Deputy Chairman and Kabir Turaki, SAN, as Deputy Chairman 2. Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has been appointed Secretary, while the Board of Trustees is represented by its Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara.
Among the prominent figures named are acting PDP Chairman Umar Iliya Damagum, Deputy National Chairman (South) Taofeek Arapaja, National Secretary Samuel Anyawu, former Vice President Namadi Sambo, as well as Governors Bala Muhammed of Bauchi, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Douye Diri of Bayelsa, Caleb Muftwang of Plateau, Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers, Kefas Agbu of Taraba, and Dauda Lawal of Zamfara. The list also features former Senate President Bukola Saraki, former Kaduna Governor Mohammed Makarfi, and former Niger Governor Aliyu Babangida.
The party explained that the committee’s responsibilities include allocating positions within the National Working Committee across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, subject to ratification by the National Executive Committee (NEC).
The Ibadan convention is expected to serve as a crucial turning point for the PDP, providing an opportunity to renew leadership ranks and refine strategies as it positions itself for the next electoral cycle.
