Over 100 players and officials are expected for the 6th edition of the Kwara State First Lady Inter-Local Government U-14 Male and Female Table Tennis Championship, tagged “Mummy Olufolake Catch Them Young, Kwara South, Offa 2025.”
The competition, slated to hold between 26th and 28th August, 2025, at the Ludlow Hall, Offa Grammar School, Offa, is aimed at hunting for talents and increasing the potential of young people in the game.
This was contained in a statement by the Chief Coordinator of the game, Prince Dare Omowumi Adebayo of the Grassroot Sports Association, who urged all the Local Government representatives to arrive for the event on 26th August for registration and accreditation.
Adebayo, the Managing Director of Adebayo Sports Int’l, expressed gratitude to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for providing an enabling environment for sports to thrive, and lauded Her Excellency, Ambassador Prof. (Mrs.) Olufolake Abdulrazaq, the First Lady of Kwara State, for the approval to stage the 6th edition in her honour.
According to him, “the sporting event will enable the young boys and girls to develop passion and interest for the game with a view to encourage more participation and to compete for medals at the colourful event.”
He added that special awards would be presented to personalities at the closing ceremony on 28th August, 2025, while the winners would be supported by Her Excellency, the wife of the State Governor, Mrs. Abdulrazaq, and other eminent personalities.
It would be recalled that the competition has produced national and international players in the past, including Sukurat Aiyelabegan among a host of others.
