The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a strong response to the launch of its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, with more than 26,000 visits logged on its portal within hours of the nationwide rollout on Monday.

According to the commission, its dedicated website, www.cvr.inecnigeria.org, registered 26,255 hits by 12.35 p.m. on August 18, reflecting significant early interest in the registration process ahead of forthcoming elections.
In a statement posted on its official X handle, INEC encouraged eligible Nigerians to seize the opportunity without delay, noting: “Hits on the Continuous Voter Registration portal climb to 26,255 as at 12.35 pm today, Monday 18th August 2025. Register Now.”
The commission explained that physical registration will open from August 25 across all 37 state offices and 774 local government offices nationwide, while online pre-registration remains active for those wishing to begin the process digitally.
INEC stated that the CVR is available to citizens aged 18 and above who have never registered, as well as those seeking to update personal information, transfer polling units, or replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). It further cautioned that multiple registrations will not be tolerated and offenders could face legal sanctions.
To ease access, the commission has set up a dedicated call centre on 0700-CALL-INEC (0700-2255-4632) and provided a short code, 4632, for inquiries and support.
