Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to the welfare of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members by donating 100 bags of rice and 10 cows to the scheme.
The donations were presented on Sunday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Paiko Local Government Area, where the state Coordinator of the scheme, Mrs Martina Shuaibu-Ibrahim, praised the governor for his unwavering commitment to improving the wellbeing of corps members posted to Niger State.
Mrs Shuaibu-Ibrahim stated that the gesture reflects the state government’s determination to ensure participants can settle comfortably and perform their duties diligently during their national service. “This donation demonstrates the state government’s commitment to the welfare of corps members, enabling them to settle in and offer dedicated service across the state,” she said.
Governor Bago had previously supported NYSC members by donating 600 bags of rice, 20 cows, and approving the payment of N200,000 to each of the 1,600 corps members of the 2024 Batch “B” Stream 1, underscoring a consistent policy of prioritising the welfare of participants under his administration.
