An Ikeja Magistrate’s Court in Ogba, Lagos, on Wednesday discharged Mrs Comfort Emmanson, the Ibom Air passenger accused of unruly conduct and assault on a domestic flight, after police formally withdrew all charges.
Presiding Magistrate Olanrewaju Salami struck out the five-count charge against Mrs Emmanson, which alleged she disrupted the peace on board, assaulted a crew member, and behaved in a manner likely to breach public order. She had earlier pleaded not guilty at her arraignment.
Police Prosecutor Mrs Oluwabunmi Adeitan informed the court that both the complainant and Ibom Air had decided against pursuing the matter further.
“The complainant and the airline have chosen not to continue with the case, and we are acting on the instruction of police authorities to withdraw it,” Adeitan said.
Following the prosecution’s request, Magistrate Salami granted the application and ordered Mrs Emmanson’s immediate discharge.
