…Calls for progressive coalition across parties
Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has thrown his support behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms following a private meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.
Although official details of their discussion were not released, Soludo later told State House correspondents that his visit was to acknowledge Tinubu’s backing for his administration and the “decisive measures” the President has taken to revitalise Nigeria’s economy.
He called on political parties across the country to embrace a progressive philosophy and work towards forming a united coalition capable of strengthening the nation’s democracy.
According to Soludo, President Tinubu was in buoyant spirits throughout the meeting, which he described as “pleasant.”
“President Tinubu is my friend; he has been my friend for 22 years now and counting, so you don’t deny your friend. I support him, and I’m impressed by the bold steps he has taken, particularly in the areas of the economy and structural reforms. I have said so several times, we’re taking the right steps and we need to stay the course,” the governor remarked.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the Anambra governorship election for 8 November 2025, with Soludo widely expected to contest for a second term.
