Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Friday joined family, friends, and well-wishers at St. Malachi Catholic Church, Sapele, for the funeral Mass of late Mr. Temiwumi Jemide, former Executive Director of Human Resources at Seaboard Group of Companies.
In an atmosphere filled with solemnity, fond memories, and heartfelt tributes, Governor Oborevwori described the late Jemide as a man of quiet strength, dignity, integrity, and service.
He noted that the deceased was a pillar in his family and a man whose values and principles left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
“I extend my personal condolences to the wife, children, and family members. The loss of a father is a painful reality, but you and your family have inherited a legacy of wisdom, humility, and strength from this great man,” the Governor said.
Addressing the widow, Governor Oborevwori acknowledged the deep bond she shared with her late husband over 39 years of marriage, praying for divine strength and comfort for her and the entire family.
“It’s not about how long we live, but the impact of the life we live. Many people here have testified to his character and the lives he touched. That is why I am here today because I know he was a man of honour,” he added.
Quoting 2 Timothy 4:7, the Governor likened Jemide’s life to that of a man who fought the good fight, finished the course, and kept the faith. He further described him as a technocrat whose professional and personal life reflected excellence and godliness.
In his homily, Rev. Father Raphael Ogigba eulogized the late Jemide as a philanthropist whose life was a gift to others and a testament to unwavering faith. “Let his life and death speak to us today,” he said, stressing that “the real tragedy is not dying young, but dying unprepared”.
The cleric admonished the congregation to be spiritually ready at all times, urging them to live in repentance, forgive one another, put God first, and serve with humility. “Life is not about titles, but about service. God is merciful, and also just,” he reminded.
Rev. Father Ogigba who spoke further, commended Governor Oborevwori for honouring the solemn occasion and lauded his leadership in advancing infrastructural development in Delta State.
He prayed for divine wisdom and strength for the Governor to continue his good works for all Deltans.
