Nigeria’s Super Falcons have maintained their status as the highest-ranked women’s football team in Africa, holding 36th position globally in the latest FIFA Women’s Rankings released on Thursday. The team secured 1,630 points, affirming their dominance on the continent.
Globally, reigning world champions Spain top the list with 2,066 points, narrowly edging out the United States, who sit second with 2,065 points. Sweden is ranked third with 2,025 points, followed closely by Euro champions England in fourth place with 2,022 points.
Within Africa, South Africa remains the second-best team and holds 54th place in the world rankings with 1,465 points. Women’s Africa Cup of Nations finalists Morocco are third in Africa and 64th globally with 1,407 points, while Zambia rounds out the continental top four at 65th in the world with 1,402 points.
The Super Falcons’ consistent ranking reflects their longstanding record as Africa’s most successful women’s team. FIFA announced that the next edition of the rankings will be published on December 11.
