The Federal Government has advanced its recruitment process into the civil service by shortlisting candidates for the next phase of the exercise.
Earlier in January 2025, the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) declared over 70 vacancies across several Ministries, Departments, and Agencies through a widely circulated newspaper advert signed by the Director of Recruitment and Appointment, Ogaba Ede.
The positions advertised included roles such as Administrative Officer, Programme Analyst, Procurement Officer, Dentist, Population Programme Officer, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Education Officer, and Youth Development Officer, among others. Applicants also competed for technical roles like Biomedical Engineer, Surveyor, Aerodrome Engineer, Statistician, Foreign Affairs Officer, and Computer Engineer.
Applications were submitted online through the commission’s official portal, which some candidates described as difficult to access due to technical issues. Initially scheduled to close on March 10, the deadline was later extended by a week to March 17.
Amid speculation that the process had stalled, the Head of Press and Public Relations at the FCSC, Taiwo Hassan, assured applicants in an interview with our correspondent that the recruitment exercise was still on track.
“We have not been quiet and we have not abandoned the exercise. As a matter of fact, work has been ongoing on the recruitment exercise.
“Candidates have been shortlisted. Those shortlisted have been sent an email on their preferred location for their Computer-Based Test among other details.
“It is not correct to say those who applied have not been contacted. We have picked from those who submitted their applications. These are the ones that will sit for the CBT,” he said.
