Victor Osimhen has rejoined Galatasaray, returning to training less than 24 hours after completing a historic €75 million move from Napoli that makes him the most expensive signing in Turkish football history.
The Nigerian forward, 26, touched down in Istanbul on Thursday night to a thunderous reception from thousands of jubilant fans. By Friday morning, he was already on the training ground at the Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay Facilities under the guidance of head coach Okan Buruk, as Galatasaray begin preparations for their upcoming season opener against Lazio.
The club confirmed that Osimhen has signed a four-year deal and will earn a net annual salary of €15 million, along with €1 million in loyalty bonuses and €5 million in image rights. His total yearly package is valued at €21 million (₦36.8 billion), making him the highest-paid player in the Turkish Super Lig.
Napoli, as part of the agreement, will also receive 10 percent of any future profit made from a subsequent transfer.
Osimhen is no stranger to Galatasaray. During a previous loan spell, he registered 37 goals and 7 assists across all competitions, propelling the club to a domestic double. His performances earned him the league’s Golden Boot, Player of the Season, and Best Goal of the Season honours.
“I’m happy to be back,” Osimhen said via the club’s official channel following his unveiling. “We have a very positive team, and I believe we can achieve even greater success. I will give my all, not just in the league and the cup, but also in the Champions League.”
The Nigerian striker trained alongside newly signed Leroy Sané, who arrived from Bayern Munich earlier in the summer. The German winger, previously under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, brings added European pedigree to the squad.
Also present at the session was Argentine forward Mauro Icardi, now fully fit after battling injury setbacks last season. The trio are expected to spearhead a formidable attack as Galatasaray chase domestic and continental success.
Osimhen expressed appreciation for the club’s management and supporters, who he said had long encouraged him, even before his first spell in Turkey.
“The welcome was unbelievable. I didn’t expect such a reception,” he said. “The fans have supported me from the beginning, even during my time in Germany. I will continue to fight and give everything on the pitch.”
