The Ondo State chapter of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria (FOMWAN) will host the 2025 edition of its South-West Zonal Youth Conference from August 7 to 10 at Khadob International College, located along the Owo Expressway in Oba-Ile, Akure North Local Government Area.
The three-day event is expected to draw participants from across the South-West region, including delegates from Ekiti, Oyo, Osun, Kwara, Ogun, Ondo, and Lagos States. Arrival of delegates is scheduled for Thursday, August 7, with the opening ceremony taking place the following day, Friday, August 8.
Dr. Olamide Muhammed will deliver the keynote address on the theme, “Empowered Voices, Green Choices.” The conference will also feature breakout sessions focused on critical issues facing today’s youth, including “Transforming Challenges into Opportunities” and “Making Responsible Choices in a Digital Era.”
A host of distinguished personalities are expected at the event. These include the Ondo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Amidu Takuro, who will serve as the keynote speaker; Hon. Dr. Bosede Osamaye, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, who will be honoured as the Mother of the Day; and Engineer Muhammed Ogumolawa, Chairman of Ondo State NACOMYO.
Also expected are the Chief Imam of Akure Kingdom, Alhaji AbdulHakeem Yayi Akorede, who will serve as the Grand Spiritual Father of the Day; the Regent of Oba-Ile Kingdom, HRM Oba Funke Agunbiade-Adu, as the Royal Father of the Day; and Alhaja Zariat Laoye, South-West II Zonal Coordinator of FOMWAN, who will serve as the Chief Hostess. Others include Alhaji Zikirullah Adam Chandy as Chairman of the Day, and Alhaji Daud Alimi Ajigbotoluwa, the Imam of Oba-Ile Central Mosque, as the Spiritual Father of the Day.
In addition to lectures and discussions, participants will embark on educational visits to the Ondo State Radiovision Corporation (OSRC), The Hope newspaper, and the State Public Service Training Institute (PSTI), where they will receive training on digital responsibility.
The conference will also feature a lineup of engaging activities, including health awareness talks, Qur’an recitation sessions, and a social night designed to foster camaraderie among attendees.
