Prince Bolanle Olajide Michael, popularly known as Onimalu, has been celebrated as the Ondo State Grassroots Mobilizer of the Year at the 2025 Topshot Hall of Fame Awards, earning praise for his remarkable role in driving political awareness and deepening community participation across the state.
A familiar name in grassroots activism, Prince Michael has built a solid reputation for connecting communities with governance, amplifying the voices of the underserved, and encouraging civic involvement through strategic mobilization and people-centred advocacy.
The award was presented during a vibrant ceremony held at the Topshot Hall in Akure, where stakeholders from government, traditional institutions, civil society, and the private sector gathered to honour individuals making meaningful contributions to development.
In his remarks, delivered by a representative, Prince Michael expressed gratitude for the honour, describing it as a reflection of the tireless work being done by many to strengthen the bond between the people and leadership. “This award is for everyone in the trenches, doing the quiet work of community building,” he said. “It inspires me to remain committed to service, transparency, and progress for our people.”
Other award recipients at the event included Hon. Francis Belonwu, Special Assistant to the Governor on Igbo Matters (Central), who was presented with the Beacon of Hope Award; Dr. Toyin Adeyalo, former President of Rotary Club of Akure Metro, who received the Golden Service Award; and AMB. Anu Ijiti, Adaja of Isinkan, who was honoured for Exemplary Community Leadership.
The ceremony also featured a keynote address by urban development expert Dr. Gbolabo Osunsanmi FNITP, titled “Retrospective Perspective on Leadership, Governance and Development in Ondo State,” which offered in-depth reflections on the state’s evolving leadership landscape.
Presiding over the occasion, Dr. Rhoda Makinde commended the organisers for shining a light on individuals whose grassroots efforts continue to shape a better future, even if often overlooked.
