The management of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, has congratulated Professor Igbekele Ajibefun on his recent appointment as the Ondo State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
Prof. Ajibefun, a former Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, is being celebrated by the institution for what it described as a well-deserved recognition of his outstanding contributions to the education sector.
The Acting Rector of the Polytechnic, Mr. Olorunwa Adegun, who once served under Ajibefun as a Head of Department, commended the appointment as a reflection of the professor’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and visionary leadership.
“Prof. Ajibefun’s appointment is a recognition of his exceptional leadership and contributions to educational development,” Adegun said, noting that the former rector’s tenure was marked by notable infrastructural advancements that improved the overall learning environment at the polytechnic.
Adegun further highlighted Ajibefun’s distinguished career, which includes his service not only as the former Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic but also as the former Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.
He described the new commissioner as an accomplished academic whose influence on educational policy and administration is expected to usher in reforms and innovations across the state’s education system.
Expressing confidence in Ajibefun’s ability to deliver in his new role, the Acting Rector applauded Governor Aiyedatiwa for making a strategic appointment that aligns with the state government’s broader development goals.
He also assured the new commissioner of the institution’s support as he assumes leadership of the education sector in Ondo State.
