The leadership of the Students’ Union at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), has held a strategic meeting with the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, pressing for improved security measures within the university community.
In a statement issued by the Union on Thursday, July 17, 2025, the visit to the state police headquarters was part of ongoing efforts to enhance student safety, particularly in light of recent security concerns.
During the meeting, the Union presented a set of proposals, including the immediate redeployment of competent and well-trained officers to the Akungba-Akoko area.
They also requested the replacement of a faulty patrol vehicle at the Akungba Divisional Police Station, stressing that improved mobility would support timely response to emergencies.
The Union further advocated for a collaborative security conference to be jointly organized by the police and the student body.
The event, they said, would educate students on personal safety tips while providing a platform to discuss security challenges and community-based solutions.
Another critical issue raised was the demand for a thorough investigation into the case of missing students.
The Union urged the police to expedite efforts to ensure justice is served.
To strengthen long-term cooperation, the Union proposed the formation of a Police-Student Relations Forum that would serve as a standing committee to handle concerns, foster dialogue, and promote trust between students and law enforcement officers.
The Students’ Union reaffirmed its commitment to building a safe academic environment and encouraged students to remain vigilant and report any security-related concerns through the appropriate student leadership or campus security channels.
