The Federal Government has announced that 16 years is now the minimum age requirement for admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across the country.
This policy was disclosed by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, on Tuesday during the annual Policy Meeting on Admissions organized by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Abuja.
Dr. Alausa emphasized that the age limit is a formal directive from the government and will be strictly enforced.
He warned that any admission conducted outside the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) will be considered invalid, adding that institutions and individuals involved in such practices will be sanctioned.
He also noted that school administrators found guilty of manipulating the admission process will be held accountable and may face prosecution.
