The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), has unveiled a set of new undergraduate programmes aimed at expanding opportunities for both science and non-science students who aspire to join the energy industry.
This academic expansion is part of FUPRE’s effort to remain innovative and relevant in today’s fast-changing world, offering programmes tailored to meet the evolving demands of both research and industry practice.
In a statement released by the university, FUPRE emphasized its inclusivity: “Whether you lean more toward lab coats or boardrooms, there’s now a place for you.”
New Courses for Non-Science Students
The newly established College of Petroleum Administration and Management is designed to accommodate students from non-science backgrounds who are interested in leadership, management, and innovation within the oil, gas, and energy sectors.
Four new Bachelor of Science programmes are now available under this college:
B.Sc. Entrepreneurship
B.Sc. Logistics and Supply Chain Management
B.Sc. Petroleum Information Management
B.Sc. Procurement Management
These courses are designed with input from industry experts, combining business principles with energy-sector applications. Graduates will be equipped for careers in global petroleum operations, business strategy, project delivery, and information management—without needing to work in a lab.
Science Students Also Have New Options
The College of Science has also introduced three new programmes for students who are passionate about research and the scientific aspects of energy, health, and the environment. The new offerings include:
B.Sc. Biochemistry
B.Sc. Microbiology
B.Sc. Petroleum Chemistry
Students enrolled in these programmes will benefit from a hands-on curriculum featuring practical lab sessions, research projects, and real-world problem-solving.
