Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has called on newly deployed members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to demonstrate commitment and responsibility as they begin their service year, encouraging them to be agents of positive change across the country.
Speaking through the NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare, the governor delivered this message during the official closing of the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream 2 orientation course held at the NYSC camp in Ikare-Akoko.
Governor Aiyedatiwa praised the corps members for successfully completing the orientation programme, which included physical training, leadership workshops, civic education, and skills acquisition sessions.
He emphasized that the programme was designed to build resilience, character, and practical knowledge that would serve them well during their national service and beyond.
He encouraged them to carry the values learned at the camp into their various places of primary assignment, urging them to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of their host communities.
“Take initiative. Engage with your communities, identify where help is needed, and play a role in addressing local challenges. By doing so, you will help promote unity and create a lasting impact,” the governor said.
He also advised them to take the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme seriously, stressing the importance of developing vocational and business skills that could ensure their self-reliance after service.
Governor Aiyedatiwa warned against involvement in unethical behavior, urging the corps members to uphold the values of honesty, discipline, and patriotism.
“Let your conduct reflect well on your family, your alma mater, and the NYSC as a whole. Always remember you are symbols of national unity and peace,” he stated.
He assured them that their safety would be prioritized by the state government, while also advising them to remain alert and take personal security seriously throughout their service year.
