Yowan Mothay, EOI, Kalimpong 25 June, 2025 : A new chapter in public service delivery unfolded in Kalimpong-1 Block on Wednesday with the formal inauguration of the Land and Land Reforms Office (BLRO). The office, situated under the Kalimpong-1 Block jurisdiction, was inaugurated by Kalimpong District Magistrate Balasubramanian T, who officially opened the premises by cutting a ceremonial ribbon.
The event witnessed the presence of several senior administrative officials including ADM Shekhar Kumar Chaudhary, ADM Samiran Mandal, Additional District Magistrate Sudipta Das, SDO Suman Majumdar, Block Development Officer of Kalimpong-1 Samirul Islam, Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Mamta Gurung, and BL&LRO Ashok Paul, among others.
Following the inauguration, officials conducted a thorough inspection of the renovated building. The District Magistrate emphasized that the administration had long intended to operationalize the BL&LRO office for the convenience of the public. With the recent completion of renovation work, the facility is now ready to serve the people.
Speaking on the occasion, Balasubramanian T stated, “We had envisioned this service center for some time. Now that the infrastructure is ready, we are proud to formally open it to the public. This office will greatly enhance land-related hassle-free service delivery in the block.”
The newly inaugurated office includes a Model Record Room, aimed at enhancing transparency and efficiency in land record management. It will provide a range of land-related services starting immediately. Residents of Kalimpong-1 block can now directly avail of government land services locally.
The opening of the BL&LRO office marks a significant improvement in grassroots governance and is expected to streamline services such as land mutation, record verification, patta application, and other land-related services.
