Two lecturers from the Department of Mass Communication at Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO), have successfully defended their doctoral theses, earning them the prestigious title of Doctor.
The Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication Studies, Dr. Raman Olaniyan Abubakri, announced the academic feat in a statement released on Thursday, congratulating the scholars on their milestone achievements.
The new PhD holders are the Head of Department, Dr. Solomon Okioya, who obtained his doctorate from Adeleke University, Ede, and Dr. Gabriel S. Afolayan, who earned his PhD from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).
Describing the accomplishment as a proud moment for the faculty and the entire RUGIPO community, Dr. Abubakri praised the duo for their commitment, hard work, and pursuit of academic excellence.
“This development marks a major milestone in their academic journey and a source of pride for our faculty,” the dean said. “We celebrate their success and encourage everyone to henceforth address them by their well-deserved doctoral titles.”
