The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has lauded the defection of Hon. Festus Akingbaso, a former deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing it as a major boost for the party and a significant setback for the opposition.
Akingbaso, who currently represents Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, was hailed by the APC as a formidable political figure whose grassroots appeal and electoral track record will further strengthen the ruling party’s position in the state.
Reacting to the development, the APC State Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, celebrated the move as a sign of the party’s growing influence, noting that Ondo State is now represented by three senators and nine members in the House of Representatives under the APC banner.
“This is further evidence that the APC is the true progressive force in the state,” Adetimehin said.
He assured the federal lawmaker of the party’s full support and pledged that Akingbaso would be given every opportunity to thrive politically within the APC.
Adetimehin also commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and other party leaders for their strategic efforts in strengthening the APC’s appeal across the state, describing their leadership as instrumental in attracting credible and influential figures like Akingbaso.
He further urged the party leadership and executives in Idanre Local Government Area to receive Akingbaso and his supporters warmly and integrate them fully into the party’s structure.
