Renowned environmental chemistry expert and internationally recognized academic, Professor Nurudeen Oladoja, will deliver the 39th Inaugural Lecture of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State.
According to a statement from Professor Adebisi Daramola, Chairman of the Ceremonies Committee and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), the event is scheduled for Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
The lecture, titled “The Chemistry Beat: Harnessing Benign Reactions for Water Purification,” will take place at the University Multipurpose Hall at 2:00 PM, with attendees expected to be seated by 1:30 PM.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Olugbenga Ige, will preside over the occasion.
Professor Oladoja is among eight AAUA academics named in the top 2% of global scientists in the 2024 Stanford-Elsevier global rankings.
He had 103 scholarly publications to his name at the time of the ranking.
His academic path began with a B.Sc. (Ed) in Chemistry from the University of Lagos in 1991, followed by an M.Sc. in Industrial Chemistry in 1994, and a Ph.D. in Chemistry in 2003—both from the University of Benin.
Joining AAUA in 2007 as Lecturer I in the Department of Chemistry, Prof. Oladoja was promoted to Professor of Environmental Chemistry in 2015.
His supervision record includes one completed Ph.D. and four ongoing, along with 12 completed and three ongoing M.Sc. dissertations. His publication record has grown to 117 scientific papers.
Prof. Oladoja has also served in various administrative capacities, including as Head of the Department of Chemistry and currently as Dean of the Faculty of Science.
His international experience includes appointments as a Visiting Professor at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing (2019–2020), the Technical University of Munich, Germany (2013–2015), and as a Visiting Research Scientist at Universiti Sains Malaysia (2011).
He is the recipient of multiple distinguished grants and fellowships, including those from the International Foundation for Science, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Commonwealth, Cambridge-Africa ALBORADA Fund, British Ecological Society, and the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO), among others.
