Defence Minister Rajnath Singh delivered a strong message on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an all-party meeting held on Thursday, reassuring the nation of India’s resolve in the face of rising tensions with Pakistan. The meeting, convened a day after the successful “Operation Sindoor,” provided detailed updates on the operation and discussed future actions.Since Prime Minister Modi was unable to attend the meeting, Rajnath Singh read out his message to opposition leaders, emphasizing national unity in these challenging times. “In this difficult situation, every citizen of the country needs to be united,” Prime Minister Modi’s message stated.
During the meeting, Rajnath Singh outlined the success of “Operation Sindoor,” stating that the Indian Army had carried out a precise attack on Pakistani terrorist camps, resulting in the death of at least 100 terrorists. He made it clear that if Pakistan escalates tensions further, India would retaliate with even greater force. “If Pakistan attacks again, India will retaliate again,” Singh asserted, reaffirming the government’s commitment to defending national security.
The all-party meeting, which also included key opposition leaders, was called to provide transparency about the operation and to ensure a unified stance on national security matters. Singh further assured the opposition that India does not seek war but will take decisive action if provoked. The government sought the opposition’s support in this critical moment, and it was clear from the discussions that the opposition stands united with the Centre regarding the national interest.
However, the meeting did not go without some questions and concerns. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge raised the issue of Prime Minister Modi’s absence, while Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, called for the Parliament session to address the situation and urged national unity. Despite these concerns, the government did not provide a direct response to Gandhi’s proposal for a parliamentary session.
Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Banerjee, present at the meeting, also urged caution, advising the Centre to consider the broader regional implications, particularly concerning neighboring Bangladesh.
In a statement following the meeting, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju praised the opposition’s mature and responsible approach to the issue, highlighting the importance of unity in the face of national security challenges.
The all-party meeting concluded with a clear message: while there are differing opinions on some aspects, there is a strong consensus on standing together in support of Operation Sindoor and the broader goal of protecting India’s sovereignty.
