The State Director of Security for the Department of State Services (DSS) in Ondo State, Mr. Tunde Adefolurin, has urged the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the state to strengthen its partnership with the agency to help curb youth restiveness.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare, Adefolurin reaffirmed the DSS’s commitment to tackling challenges associated with youthful exuberance. He emphasized that his command remains dedicated to engaging young graduates in meaningful dialogues and programs that maximize their potential during their service year.
The DSS chief assured that the agency prioritizes the safety of corps members, noting that the combined efforts of all security agencies in Ondo State are geared towards ensuring peace and stability. While acknowledging the rise in requests for relocation due to security concerns, he stated that proactive measures are continually being developed to address these challenges.
Highlighting the importance of collaboration between the DSS and NYSC, Adefolurin stressed that a strong partnership would contribute to building a more secure and prosperous nation. He reaffirmed that both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the DSS Director-General are committed to protecting the youth, regardless of their backgrounds, across the country.
In her remarks, NYSC State Coordinator Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare expressed gratitude to the DSS for deploying experienced professionals as undercover agents during orientation exercises. She noted that their presence has significantly enhanced security and ensured a smooth experience for the camp community.
Bakare also called for enhanced surveillance around Corps Lodges and other residential areas where corps members live, emphasizing the need for continued collaboration between the two federal agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of all corps members in Ondo State.
