The family of renowned Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, has raised alarm over his disappearance and petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) for assistance in locating him.
As reported by PUNCH, In a formal complaint dated February 7 and signed by their lawyer, Wilson Anuge, the Idibia family stated that the singer had been missing since February 10, 2025, with no contact or trace of his whereabouts.
According to the family, 2Baba left his residence that morning dressed in loungewear, suggesting he was going for his routine walk, but he never returned home. Despite extensive efforts by his family, staff, and record label to locate him—including reaching out to friends and acquaintances—there has been no communication from him.
The petition expressed deep concern, noting that 2Baba had never gone missing before or abandoned his professional obligations. The family also highlighted a worrying development—several close friends received messages from what appeared to be his social media accounts requesting financial assistance, an unusual occurrence given his financial independence.
“These messages are alarming and raise fears that his identity may have been compromised. The possibility of abduction or coercion cannot be ruled out,” the family stated.
Given the seriousness of the situation, the Idibia family urged the DSS to deploy its resources to locate and rescue the singer.
“2Baba is a national icon with millions of fans and a family that is deeply distraught over his disappearance. His absence has also disrupted his music empire. We plead for urgent intervention to ensure his safety,” the petition added.
Meanwhile, social media has been buzzing with speculation after a viral video surfaced on Thursday showing the singer proposing to Edo State House of Assembly lawmaker Natasha Osaruwa. This came shortly after reports emerged about his alleged plans to divorce his wife, Annie Idibia.
Adding to the controversy, 2Baba’s mother, Rose Idibia, released a video on Friday appealing to Nigerians to intervene, claiming her son had not been himself lately and urging Natasha to release him.
