The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Modibbo Adama University (MAU) Yola Chapter, has celebrated four distinguished professors for their outstanding dedication and service to the union’s progress.
Themed “2024/2025 Heroes Day Celebration,” the event brought together senior university stakeholders and union members to honor the contributions of the awardees.
The recipients included Prof. D. T. Gungula, Professor of Crop Physiology; Prof. K. A. Abubakar, Professor of Fishery and Hydrobiology; Prof. Anna M. Malgwi, Professor of Agricultural Entomology; and Prof. Ahmed Bawa Bello, Professor of Accounting.
Dr. El Maunde Jibril, Chairperson of ASUU MAU Yola Chapter, commended the honorees for their exemplary commitment and sacrifices toward advancing the union’s objectives. He reaffirmed ASUU’s commitment to celebrating the achievements and contributions of its members.
The Vice-Chancellor of MAU Yola, Prof. Ibrahim Umar, also praised the awardees and ASUU for fostering a culture of recognition and excellence. He advised the union to prioritize the welfare of its members, suggesting that internal efforts might yield more tangible results than prolonged disputes with the government.
The Heroes Day celebration is an annual tradition by the ASUU MAU Yola Chapter to honor individuals who have made significant contributions to the union and the university community.
