The National Coordinator of Ndigbo Media Forum, Rev. Paul Eze, has declared the group’s support for the nomination of Chief Dr. Chidi Anyaegbu, the Chairman of Chisco Motors, as the ‘Mayor’ Ndigbo Worldwide describing it as round peg in round hole.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Rev. Eze stated this in Lagos during an interaction with some media practitioners at the weekend over the nomination.
Eze posited, “The history of great people revolves around individuals and events that had great influence on them. These individuals either find themselves in situations or they bring about the situations that would lead to the greatness of their people”.
“They are always at the thick of the occasions and provide the basis for the emergence of the new order that would lead to the transformation of their people.”
“These individuals render selfless services to their people or community and enjoy far- reaching acknowledgement and acceptance thereafter.”
“Chief Chidi Anyaegbu has over paid his dues in terms of financial support to the progress of Ndigbo and others.”
“He deserved the best award or gift from Ndigbo in appreciation for his good works, efforts and commitment to the progress,unity and mutual relationship of Ndigbo with other tribes.”
“He has secretly saved Ndigbo from many troubles. He has placed his time, resources, goodwill and intellect at the disposal of others in commitment to selfless service to the good of all.”
Eze further stated that the nomination and conferment of Chief Anyaegbu will add a lot to the progress of Ndigbo in Lagos and diaspora.
“It will serve as a rallying point or decision centre for Ndigbo in the South West and indeed across Nigeria.”
Chidi Anyaegbu is a Nigerian businessman and transport mogul. He is the founder and owner of Chisco Group Ltd and Havila Air. The highly respected Anyaegbu was born on 13th September, 1956, in Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Chief Chidi Anyaegbu obtained his First School Leaving Certificate from St. Andrew’s Primary School, Amichi, Nnewi in 1971. He attended several Management and Entrepreneurial institutions in France, USA, Brazil, Germany, and United Kingdom.
In 1996, Chidi Anyaegbu was conferred with a Doctorate Degree in Business Administration (Honoris Causa) by Penn State University, USA.
He ventured into business in 1975 selling spare parts at the spare parts market in Ebute Metta, Lagos.
In 1981, he started Chisco Transport Nigeria Ltd and subsequently diversified into oil and gas, hospitality, courier, real estate and other companies. In 2010, Chidi Anyaegbu founded You Too Can Do It, a non government organization that is aimed at assisting the society.
He built the Chisco Building, a N78 million business faculty at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka for Transport Studies.
Chidi Anyaegbu is a fellow of the Chattered Institute of Logistics and Transport (International) London. He is also an honorary fellow of the Institute of Internal Auditors of Nigeria. He was conferred with the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic ( MFR) and the Distinguished Leadership Award by the Police Community Relations Committee, Zone 7 of the Nigerian Police.
Chief Anyaegbu is a receiver of the National Merit Award in Transport at the Institute of International Auditors of Nigeria. He is conferred the traditional title of Okeiyi Amichi.
He was recently given the Mayor and Ambassador of Peace by the United Nations.
Chief Chidi Anyaegbu is married to Ngozi Anyaegbu with children.
